Staying active during pregnancy can look very different from one person to the next. You may want a full prenatal fitness program, a Pilates or yoga class built for pregnancy, or a gentler practice you can join from home.
These three options aren’t ranked. They cover three different ways to move during pregnancy, all within a manageable drive of Newport Beach or available online. Schedules change, so check the current listing and tell the instructor how far along you are before booking. If your OB, midwife, or another clinician has given you activity restrictions, follow that advice first.
Javier puts comfort first with his prenatal massage clients. In his words, he wants to “meet them where they’re at in terms of their comfort.” The same idea is useful here: the right class is one that gives you room to speak up, modify, and stay in control of what feels right.
Quick guide: which format fits you?
- Umma Fitness: prenatal Pilates, yoga, and personal training close to Newport Beach.
- FIT4MOM Newport/Costa Mesa: a six-week prenatal fitness program with the same cohort and built-in community.
- Tanvi Yoga: gentle prenatal yoga with trimester modifications, onsite in Irvine or online.
Umma Fitness: prenatal Pilates and yoga in Costa Mesa
Umma is a strong option if you’re specifically looking for prenatal Pilates near Newport Beach. Pregnancy and postpartum movement are central to the Costa Mesa studio’s work, not an add-on to its regular schedule.
Classes include yoga and Pilates for moms and moms-to-be, along with one-on-one training. Personal-training clients start with a prenatal or postnatal assessment, so there’s an individual route if a group class doesn’t feel specific enough. Prenatal clients need medical clearance before joining.
Good fit if: you want Pilates or yoga in a studio centered on pregnancy and postpartum movement, or you’d prefer individual guidance.
Know before booking: first-time visitors should arrive 15 minutes early. Umma also has a five-minute late-arrival grace period and late-cancel/no-show rules.
Where: 2075 Newport Blvd., Suite 101, Costa Mesa. It’s in the same center as Public Storage, just north of Newport Beach.

FIT4MOM Newport/Costa Mesa: a six-week prenatal fitness program
FIT4BABY is the most structured choice here: a six-week prenatal program with weekly private-group workouts, community support, and a weekly journal.
It’s more of a commitment than a drop-in class. That can be a plus if you like having a clear start and finish, want to see the same small group each week, and do better with some built-in accountability. If you only want an occasional gentle class, one of the other options may fit better.
Good fit if: you want prenatal strength and endurance work plus a built-in community.
Know before booking: ask when the next six-week session begins and where that cohort meets. FIT4MOM uses outdoor and community locations around Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, so the meeting place can vary.

Tanvi Yoga: prenatal yoga onsite or by Zoom
Tanvi Yoga keeps the focus on gentle movement, breathing, flexibility, and relaxation, with modifications for each trimester. You can join onsite or by Zoom. That online option may be useful later in pregnancy, when a drive across Orange County or a fixed class time can feel like one more hurdle.
A six-week prenatal pass covers one class per week. It’s non-transferable and non-refundable, so check the schedule before you buy.
Good fit if: you want gentle prenatal yoga, need trimester-specific modifications, or would use an online backup.
Know before booking: classes need to be scheduled in advance. Onsite classes meet at 1882 McGaw Ave. in Irvine.

Before your first prenatal class
Ask three practical questions before paying for a package:
- Is the class running now, and is it designed specifically for pregnancy?
- Does the instructor need clearance from your prenatal care provider?
- What happens if you need to pause because of symptoms, an appointment, or delivery?
You should be able to tell the instructor what trimester you’re in, how you’ve been moving lately, and whether anything feels uncomfortable. A good class gives you space to modify without feeling pressured to keep up.
If you’d also like hands-on support between classes, OC Massage Therapy offers prenatal massage in Newport Beach in a private office. Javier has used a sideline pillow kit for more than 10 years and can adjust the position if something doesn’t feel comfortable. Massage doesn’t replace care from your prenatal clinician, but it may help with common pregnancy discomfort such as low-back or sciatic pain.
A quick note on this guide: nobody paid to be included, and the list isn’t a ranking. Details were checked in September 2026. Check with each provider for current schedules, pricing, and eligibility.
