Therapeutic massage is the manipulation of the muscles and tissues of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, and stress. Massage is commonly used with the goal of promoting overall health.
It may be used to relieve pain, reduce stress and anxiety, promote circulation, relieve muscle tension, lessen spasms and cramping in muscles, improve range of motion in joints, help rehabilitate athletic injuries or just to relax.
Some of the more recognized forms that we offer are:
Massage is a manual therapy involving the use of hands, fingers, forearms or elbows to manipulate muscles and other soft tissues of the body.
Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, and even elbows. It can also be done with the use of various massage tools including: bristle brushes, combs, rollers, and balls as well as wooden dowels or long smooth sticks and bamboo skewers.
When someone receives therapeutic massage they usually relax while lying on a padded table covered by a sheet or other light covering.
During a massage, the therapist first warms up the muscles by gently applying pressure to the muscle fibers with their hands. The warmth of the massage helps relax muscles and loosen tight tissue, which enables them to stretch further without injury.
Massage is often used as part of an overall treatment for certain conditions such as arthritis or breathing disorders like asthma. Massage can also be done on its own as a type of alternative medicine or to promote general wellness.
