If you’d like a regular class with other parents after your baby arrives, New Mom School is one local option to look into. I don’t have a direct line to their team or a partnership with them. This is my summary of their published class information, so please contact them directly about enrolling.
The basic setup
The commitment is eight weeks, with one 90-minute class each week. Classes meet in person and are grouped by babies’ birth dates. The Newport Mesa location is at 2675 Irvine Ave, Suite 114, Costa Mesa, CA 92627, and you can reach them at [email protected]. The owner, Becca Kushner, has a background in pediatric occupational therapy.
Which class fits your stage
- Newborn Mommy & Me: 0 to 3 months.
- Infant Mommy & Me: 3 to 6 months.
- Rising Toddler: 6 to 12 months.
- Second Time Mom: 0 to 3 months, for a second or later baby.
If you’re still pregnant, their site says you can register with your due date so your class is timed for your baby’s arrival.
A free breastfeeding group
New Mom School also lists a free, weekly breastfeeding support group led by an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). Registration is required, so check their site for the current schedule before you plan around it.
Before you commit to eight weeks
I’d check the full set of dates, the total cost, and what happens if you miss a class. Ask about parking and bringing a stroller, too. The right class needs to work for your week, not just sound good on paper.
If you’d also like to book a massage
A class and a massage appointment serve different purposes. With me, the conversation is about your comfort and what you’d like me to focus on. My postpartum support plan can help you consider other support, too. For getting out of the house with a baby, see low-key outings in Newport Beach for new parents.
When you book, tell me when you gave birth and whether your provider has given you any restrictions. If you’d like to arrange a postpartum session, text or call me.
Class details, schedules and pricing can change, so confirm everything with New Mom School before you sign up.
